Aung San Suu Kyi: Lady Of No Fear

07 May 2011

This Danish documentary is a moving portrait of the life of Burma’s opposition leader and democracy activist. The film gives priority to Aung San Suu Kyi’s personal history: her time at Oxford University and marriage to Dr Michael Arris; their domestic family life in England; and her return to Burma in 1988 when she made her first real commitment to the pro-democracy movement. She was first placed under house arrest a year later.

The film explores the profound impact of her detainment on her family and friends, providing a rare and powerful insight into a remarkable woman and the massive sacrifices she and her family made for her beliefs.
