Rock to Remember Benefit Gig on Uprising Anniversary
A special benefit gig for Burma will take place in the city of Brighton in the south of England today. Artists are donating their time for free to help raise awareness about the situation in Burma, and to raise money for the campaign for freedom.
The gig is timed to coincide with the 19th anniversary of the democracy uprising in Burma.
Artists performing include harpist Michael McLinn, singer songwriter Carly Bryant and rock band Sweet Sweet Lies.
Vicky Houston, Brighton for Burma co-ordinator who organised the event, said; It is important to remember the lives lost in 1988, and vital that we dont forget the millions of people in Burma who are still suffering under the regime.
Carly Bryant said; “I hope Rock2Remember raises further awareness for a country that is so shockingly forgotten by many, but needs support more than ever.”
Michael McLinn said; Its a pleasure to be playing a gig for a cause that genuinely needs help with raising its profile.
The gig will take place at The Hope on Queens Road, Brighton. It starts at 7pm and costs £3 (£2 students).
We desperately need your help.
Burma Campaign UK is making a difference, but without support from members of the public our work would end.
