This image shows homes made up of bamboo shattered by Cyclone Nargis. Millions of people were made homeless by the cyclone in May 2008.
Cyclone Nargis struck Burma in May 2008 causing devastating damage in the Irrawaddy Delta and widespread damage in Rangoon. The military regime made the situation far worse by failing to warn the population that the cyclone was coming and then blocked international aid from being delivered to the more than 3 million people that were directly affected by the cyclone. It is estimated that 140,000 people were killed by the storm.
